Larnaca agrees research partnership for digital services and coastal monitoring

Larnaca Municipality and the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence signed a memorandum of cooperation on 12 October 2026. The municipality announced the agreement as a framework for joint work on digital services, environmental protection and sustainable urban development.
The planned work includes geographic information systems: mapping municipal infrastructure, public buildings, roads, public spaces and projects in progress. The announcement describes the gradual development of an integrated digital system; it does not say that a new public service is already operating.
The partnership also envisages coastal monitoring, particularly erosion, using satellite data and remote sensing. These are proposed areas of cooperation rather than a confirmed timetable for completed projects.
